DESERT TOUR VIA OUARZAZATE & AIT BEN HADDOU
Day 1
Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Skoura – Dades Valley
Approx. driving time 6 hours
Your journey begins with a morning departure from Marrakech as we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass.
How the day unfolds:
The road climbs through beautiful mountain landscapes and traditional Berber villages. We visit the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most iconic historical sites. After exploring the kasbah we continue through Ouarzazate and the Skoura oasis before reaching the scenic Dades Valley.
Overnight in Dades Valley.
Day 2
Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
Approx. driving time 4-5 hours
After breakfast we travel toward the spectacular Todra Gorge.
How the day unfolds:
You will have time to walk through the impressive canyon where towering cliffs rise dramatically above the valley. Later we travel through desert towns until the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon. In the afternoon you will ride camels into the desert while the sun sets over the dunes. Dinner and Berber music await at the desert camp.
Overnight in a Sahara desert camp.
Day 3
Merzouga – Nomad families – Khamlia village – desert landscapes
How the day unfolds:
Today we explore the desert region around Merzouga. You will visit nomadic families who live in traditional desert tents and learn about their lifestyle. In the village of Khamlia you will enjoy traditional Gnawa music performed by local musicians. The afternoon is relaxed, allowing time to enjoy the quiet beauty of the Sahara.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes.
Overnight in a hotel or riad near the dunes.
Day 4
Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Approx. driving time 5-6 hours
After breakfast we leave the desert and travel toward the historic town of Rissani.
How the day unfolds:
Rissani is known for its traditional markets and desert culture. Continuing the journey, we pass through vast desert landscapes and the beautiful Draa Valley, famous for its endless palm groves and ancient kasbah villages. In the evening we arrive in Ouarzazate.
Overnight in Ouarzazate.
Day 5
Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Approx. driving time 3-4 hours
After breakfast we begin the journey back to Marrakech.
How the day unfolds:
The road climbs again through the High Atlas Mountains, offering spectacular panoramic views and scenic stops along the way. We pass traditional Berber villages before descending toward Marrakech where the tour ends in the afternoon.
