Tangier – Cape Spartel – Hercules Caves – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

Approx. driving time 2 hours

Begin the tour in Tangier, Morocco’s gateway between Europe and Africa. Start with a short panoramic visit of the city: the Kasbah, the old medina, the Grand Socco, and the views over the Strait of Gibraltar. Then drive towards the Atlantic side of Tangier to visit Cape Spartel and the Caves of Hercules, both listed among the most popular places to visit around Tangier by Morocco’s official tourism website.
After the coastal visit, continue towards Tetouan, a city strongly influenced by Andalusian culture. Depending on timing, make a short stop for a walk near the old medina or for lunch. In the afternoon, drive through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the famous blue city.

Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Chefchaouen Cultural Day

Spend the day discovering Chefchaouen, one of the most photogenic towns in Morocco. The visit can be slow and relaxed, because the beauty of Chefchaouen is not only in monuments but in its atmosphere: blue-painted alleys, small artisan shops, mountain views, cafés, and quiet squares.
Typical stops include the old medina, Place Outa el Hammam, the Kasbah, local weaving and handicraft shops, and the small uphill walk to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint, especially beautiful at sunset.
If the travelers enjoy nature, the afternoon can include an optional excursion towards Akchour, known for mountain scenery and waterfalls. If they prefer a lighter day, it is better to stay in Chefchaouen and enjoy the medina without rushing.

Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Moulay Idriss – Meknes – Fes

Approx. driving time 4 hours

Leave Chefchaouen after breakfast and drive south towards the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Visit the Archaeological Site of Volubilis, one of the most important Roman sites in Morocco. UNESCO describes Volubilis as a fortified Roman municipium at the foot of Jebel Zerhoun and highlights its importance for understanding Romanisation on the frontier of the Roman Empire and the meeting point between Roman and indigenous cultures.
After Volubilis, make a short stop in Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, one of Morocco’s most spiritual towns, located near the ruins. Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. UNESCO recognizes Meknes for its historic medina and the imperial city created by Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century.
In the late afternoon, continue to Fes, where the tour ends.
